Global Area Network (M4) is the Inmarsat satellite system for land communication that takes full advantage of the capabilities
offered by both ISDN and IP land networks.
It is ideal for professional people on the move, as it uses light-weight, portable terminal equipment operating on batteries and with A4-sized folding antenna. As a result, it is most popular between media broadcasters on journalistic missions, government and welfare organisations, the army, embassies etc.
Inmarsat GAN Offers two-way voice, fax and additionally, for the first time, ISDN capability at speeds of 64 kbit/sec. Furthermore, with the new MPDS service, M4 users can connect to the global IP network for Internet browsing, Internet e-mail, ftp transfer LAN / WAN interconnection, etc.
Otesat-Maritel is offering Inmarsat-GAN services via «Thermopylae» and hosting Land Earth Stations with the access code "005" for all ocean regions.
