This next generation from Inmarsat, based on 3G standards, takes the vessel into the IP era.

FleetBroadband Features:

• Standard IP for email, internet and intranet access via a secure VPN connection, at speeds up to 432 kbps over a shared channel.
• Streaming IP for guaranteed data rates on demand up to 256 kbps. Choose the data rate on a case by case basis, depending on the application.
• Voice calls available at the same time as accessing the data applications. Call waiting, forwarding, barring, holding and voicemail are also available.
• Fax. Group 3 fax is supported via the voice channel (3.2 kHz audio) and Group 4 fax is supported via the ISDN channel
• Available ISDN at 64 kbps for legacy applications.
• SMS ability of sending and receiving text messages – up to 160 characters.
