The Company having recognized the importance to provide LRIT services (Long-Range Identification & Tracking) to the Maritime Industry for security reasons at sea and for the protection of the marine environment performs Conformance tests, following ΙΜΟ prerequisites, to the Vessels’ LRIT transmitting equipment, in order to certify that the vessel’s equipment has been adjusted to LRIT requirements.
Authorized Testing Application Service Provider (ASP)
Otesat-Maritel has been appointed by the Ministry of the Mercantile Marine as Authorized Testing Application Service Provider upon the implementation of SOLAS V/19-1 regulation of the International Maritime Organization of UNO for the mandatory implementation of the identification and tracking long-distance (LRIT).
Also, the Company co-operates with Cobham SATCOM Marine providing LRIT services to vessels that are registered in many countries. Among the countries are indicatively included the Flags of Cyprus, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Gibraltar, Malta, Spain, etc.
Conformance tests
Our Company performs Conformance tests following the ΙΜΟ prerequisites, to the Vessels’ LRIT transmitting equipment, in order to certify that the vessel’s equipment has been adjusted to LRIT requirements. Also, Otesat-Maritel should verify that every vessel has been registered at the European LRIT data base.
The installation of terminal equipment Inm-C or mini-c approved by Inmarsat according to IMO requirements and specifications for LRIT, is mandatory (IMO Resolution MSC.263 (84) and IMO Circular MSC.1/Circ.1307).
